Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program at The University of Akron

The goal of the Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program (COFSP) is to produce around 800 additional graduates in the science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medical (STEMM) fields at The University of Akron.

STEMM scholars must be Ohio residents and must be pursuing a degree in engineering, medicine, science, dentistry, pharmacy, computer design, veterinary science or a related field. Anyone interested in teaching a STEMM discipline also qualifies.

ALL STEMM Scholars receive a scholarship of up to $5,500 per academic year.

NOTE: The application window is November 1 through March 1, yearly.

Benefits of being involved

The Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program offers far more than financial assistance. Through intrusive support services, the program has a retention and graduation rate of more than 90 percent. Scholars are a part of the program community, which is designed to assist STEMM majors in and outside of the classroom.

Assessment

The data collected from the assessment of the program will be used to extend and expand our excellent track record in STEMM education research and STEMM student graduation and job placement.
