When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.

For this reason, The University of Akron is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥ alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.

Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.

If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at The University of Akron, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

Students who want to apply for scholarships should visit the scholarship page on the Financial Aid site. You can find the link for the online application here.

The Department of Development does not accept applications for or distribute scholarships. Scholarships are distributed through the University’s Office of Student Financial Aid.

Roberts, Nancy Steinkerchner Law Scholarship Endowment Fund

The Nancy Steinkerchner Roberts Law Scholarship Endowment Fund was established on Mother's Day, May 13, 2007, in honor of School of Law alumna, Nancy Steinkerchner Roberts class of 1992 by her husband, Patrick S. Roberts. Nancy received a bachelor's degree in industrial management in 1984, a master's degree in business marketing in 1986, and a Juris doctorate in 1992. As a student, Nancy was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa National Honorary Society, Delta Sigma Pi, and Rho Lambda. She was a member of the Zips women's basketball team and the senior class board.

Nancy is a member of Delta Gamma Fraternity and a past member of the College of Business Alumni Board and the University's National Alumni Board of Directors. She is currently legal counsel and director of information systems for American Pro-Mold which was established by her father and mother in 1978. The Steinkerchner legacy at the University continued with Nancy and her three siblings following in the footsteps of their parents, Roberta Deeter Steinkerchner and Edward F. Steinkerchner.

Pat and Nancy are the proud parents of three lovely daughters, Erica, Nicole, and Jacqueline, and a fourth daughter Dana, who passed away young in life and now rests in peace. Pat and Nancy's love for their daughters, their family, and The University of Akron family are central themes in their lives.

The Nancy Steinkerchner Roberts Law Scholarship Endowment Fund is designated to students of The University of Akron School of Law. First preference will be given to students with a GPA of at least 2.5. Selection of the recipient of The Nancy Steinkerchner Roberts Law Scholarship Endowment Fund will be made by the School of Law Scholarship Committee. Scholarship awards may cover tuition, fees, books, and room and board, all or in part.
