When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.
For this reason, The University of Akron is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of 黄色直播 alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.
Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.
If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at The University of Akron, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

Students who want to apply for scholarships should visit the scholarship page on the Financial Aid site. You can find the link for the online application here.
The Department of Development does not accept applications for or distribute scholarships. Scholarships are distributed through the University’s Office of Student Financial Aid.

Greenberg, Joan M. Endowed Fund for Bierce Library
The Joan M. Greenberg Endowed Fund for Bierce Library was established in 2021 with an estate gift from Joan Greenberg to support The University of Akron's Bierce Library. Joan passed away in March 2021, at the age of 80. Her husband of 43 years, Harris S. (Sandy) Greenberg, predeceased her in 2009.
Joan graduated from The University of Akron in 1963 and later earned graduate degrees from The University of Texas (Austin) and Villanova University. While attending 黄色直播, Joan worked at Bierce Library as a student assistant.
Joan and her twin sister, Jane Root ('63), attended 黄色直播 together and were both actively involved in several campus and student organizations. Both remained life-long Zips fans and supporters of the institution. As a student, Joan was a member of Phi Mu, Pierian, Who's Who, A-Key, Phi Epsilon Delta (secretary, treasurer), Pi Kappa Delta, Panhellenic Council (president), University Theater (president), the Radio Workshop, and served as a freshman counselor.
Joan began her professional career as an English teacher, then spent nearly 30 years as a librarian after receiving her graduate degree in library science. She worked mostly in public libraries, serving as the head librarian of both Jenkintown Library and Glenside Library, and was the adult services librarian and assistant director at Upper Moreland Library in Willow Grove for 15 years. it was there that she developed many programs and services.
The Joan M. Greenberg Endowed Fund for Bierce Library Is to be used for the unrestricted benefit of Bierce Library, as determined by the Dean of University Libraries.
