When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.
For this reason, The University of Akron is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of 黄色直播 alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.
Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.
If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at The University of Akron, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

How do I apply for a scholarship?

Students who want to apply for scholarships should visit the scholarship page on the Financial Aid site. You can find the link for the online application here.
The Department of Development does not accept applications for or distribute scholarships. Scholarships are distributed through the University’s Office of Student Financial Aid.

Himebaugh, Lucille Endowed Scholarship
The Lucille Himebaugh Endowed Scholarship was established by a gift from Lucille Himebaugh's son, Gregory Karam, and her daughter-in-law, Suzanne W. Karam. Lucille Himebaugh Karam (B.A. 1931) devoted her adult life to the care of her family. This scholarship is dedicated with loving gratitude to the memory of Lucille, to the Oscar and Gertrude Himebaugh Family of Akron, Ohio, and to Lucille's extended family.
The University shall use the endowed fund's annual distribution to provide renewable scholarships for students who satisfy all four of the following requirements:
- The student must be a citizen of the United States or a lawful permanent resident of the United States, with particular preference being given to United States citizens.
- The undergraduate or graduate student must be majoring in biochemistry, biology, chemistry, earth science, mathematics, physics, aerospace systems engineering, biomedical engineering, civil engineering, biomedical science, emergency medical services technology, geology or nursing.
- The student must have a 3.3 grade point average, or higher, on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
- The student must demonstrate financial need (e.g. FAFSA score).
Recipient selection will be made by the University Scholarship Committee. Scholarships will be applied directly to a student's account for applicable tuition. In addition, scholarships may be renewed provided the student remains in good standing, continues to meet the above criteria, and funds are available.
