Named scholarships & funds

When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.

For this reason, The University of Akron is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥ alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.

Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.

If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at The University of Akron, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

Cramblette, Judith Ann Endowed Scholarship in Engineering

The Judith Ann Cramblette Endowed Scholarship in Engineering was established in 2008 (and revised in 2016) in loving memory of Judith Ann Cramblette by her husband, Donn, a 1967 graduate of The University of Akron’s College of Engineering. Judy enjoyed a long and fulfilling career at the School for the Deaf in Rochester, N.Y., and was a strong advocate for education and helping those in need. Donn spent a 20-year career at the University of Rochester as a construction manager. He is a registered professional engineer in Ohio and New York. Both Judy and Donn were natives of Akron, and Donn chose his alma mater as a place to provide scholarship support in Judy’s memory as a means to assist students with financial need who are enrolled in the College of Engineering.

The Judith Ann Cramblette Endowed Scholarship in Engineering is to be awarded annually to student(s) at The University of Akron who:

  • Is enrolled full time in the College of Engineering
  • Is beginning his/her junior or senior year
  • Graduated from an Akron Public High School
  • Has a GPA of 3.0 or higher

Preference will be given to female students. If no candidates meet this criteria, the scholarship will be offered to a female junior or senior with a 3.0 GPA, regardless of where she graduated from high school.

Selection of the recipient will be made by a member of the Cramblette family in conjunction with the dean’s office in the College of Engineering.
