Williamson, David and Mary Kathryn Rose Endowed Scholarship in the School of Music

The David and Mary Kathryn Rose Williamson Endowed Scholarship in the School of Music was established in their memory by their son and daughter-in-law, David and Brenda Perrott Williamson.

The Williamsons were lifelong Akron residents. Mary Kathryn Rose Williamson graduated from West High School and studied engineering at The University of Akron. David Williamson graduated from North High School and worked at Goodyear Aerospace. However, his passion was music; he played the violin, the saxophone, and clarinet. He played for the Akron Symphony, the Canton Symphony, the Denny Thompson Orchestra, the Harold Nelson Band, and the Akron String Quartet. He also taught violin and played in many university orchestras. Mary Kathryn was his constant companion at all of his musical venues.

The David and Mary Kathryn Rose Williamson Endowed Scholarship in the School of Music will be awarded to a violin student. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and will be selected by the School of Music in conjunction with Student Financial Aid.
