Rupert, Dr. Timothy J. Residence Life Scholarship

The Dr. Timothy J. Rupert Residence Life Scholarship was established in 2018 by Dr. Timothy Rupert, a native of Massillon, Ohio. Dr. Rupert attended The University of Akron, where he earned two degrees in accounting -- a bachelor’s and a master’s in taxation -- before receiving his doctorate from Pennsylvania State University.  He has been a member of the faculty at Northeastern University (Boston, MA) in the D’Amore-McKim School of Business since 1992.  Dr. Rupert is widely published in the area of the thought processes of taxpayers and tax practitioners.  His research focuses on using behavioral methodologies to examine the impact of tax system structure changes on decision-making and fairness perceptions. Dr. Rupert has received the Beta Gamma Sigma Teacher of the Year Award several times while at Northeastern and was named the Outstanding Educator by the Massachusetts Society of CPAs.

While enrolled at The University of Akron, Dr. Rupert was active as an Honors student and in the Residence Life and Housing Program. A series of outstanding experiences through these campus organizations prompted him to establish The Timothy J. Rupert Endowed Scholarship Fund in Accounting and The Dr. Timothy J. Rupert Residence Life Scholarship.

The Dr. Timothy J. Rupert Residence Life Scholarship was established to support full-time undergraduate student(s) serving on the Residence Hall Council (RHC), Residence Hall Program Board (RHPB) or hall government.  The qualifying student(s) must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, be in good academic standing and display leadership, compassion and excellence within the University community. The scholarship will be applied to the recipient’s student account.

Selection of candidates will be made by the Associate Director of Residence Life Activities and shared with Dr. Rupert for final consultation.  Should Dr. Rupert be unavailable, the Associate Director of Residence Life Activities will select the recipient.
