Lehner Family Foundation Nursing Scholarship

The Lehner Family Foundation Nursing Scholarship was established in 2007 through the generosity of the Lehner Family Foundation to recognize outstanding student achievement in the College of Nursing. This recognition of achievement continues the tradition of the Lehner family as seen through Charles and Jane Lehner, founders of the Lehner Screw Machine Company. Their generosity and affinity to both philanthropy and the Akron community led to the establishment of the Lehner Family Foundation in 1989.

Jane Lehner’s last 18 months were greatly enhanced by her special nursing caregivers. The Lehner Family Foundation Nursing Scholarship recognizes outstanding nursing care, as well as excellence in the field of nursing. It provides the support needed to assist in the resolution of the current issue of a national shortage of nurses. The scholarship provides support for a student enrolled in The University of Akron undergraduate nursing program. Scholarship recipients are selected by the Office of Student Affairs in Nursing.
