Marini String Quartet Residency Program

The Marini String Quartet Residency Program established an undergraduate string quartet residency program at The University of Akron. It provides scholarships for four dedicated and talented musicians who can serve as musical models for other undergraduate majors. It establishes a quality core of undergraduate string majors for the string program at the undergraduate level while representing the University at its finest at both on- and off-campus performances. Students interested in the program must audition in person at The University of Akron. Students accepted for audition are screened through the requirement of submitting a preliminary performance tape. They need to meet all general University admissions requirements and entrance requirements for the School of Music. The students accepted participate in the Marini String Quartet Residency Program for a period of four years, provided they continue to meet both academic and performance standards set by the University and the School of Music.
