The Alumni Association has long recognized the importance of higher education in the nursing profession. Throughout its 104-year history, Akron City Hospital's School of Nursing has singularly contributed to the physical well-being of the community through its commitment to excellence in the helping profession. The Akron City Hospital's School of Nursing Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship will continue the school's legacy of academic excellence and community service.

The scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduate of Akron City Hospital's School of Nursing, who is in pursuit of a bachelor's or master's degree in nursing at The University of Akron’s College of Nursing. Although preference will be given to a diploma graduate of Akron City Hospital's School of Nursing, other nursing students are encouraged to apply. The scholarship will be awarded according to academic merit and financial need. The recipient must maintain a minimum GPA in keeping with the particular nursing program sequence and can be enrolled on a full- or part-time basis.

The Scholarship Committee of The University of Akron's College of Nursing will determine the recipient of The Akron City Hospital's School of Nursing Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship.
