Meyers, Robert A. and Jean C. Family Fund for the Ray C. Bliss Institute

The Robert A. and Jean C. Meyers Family Fund for the Ray C. Bliss Institute was established in 2006 by an initial gift of $145,000 from the estate of Robert A. Meyers.

The Robert A. and Jean C. Meyers Family Fund for the Ray C. Bliss Institute provides a lasting tribute to Robert A. and Jean C. Meyers who were so much a part of Akron. The Meyers were married for nearly 60 years. Out of this love grew three wonderful daughters, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Through the years, Mr. and Mrs. Meyers shared their love of travel with their children and grandchildren. They also emphasized the importance of higher education.

A successful entrepreneur, Robert A. Meyers was concerned about the ethical and fundamental practice of the country's political process. He recognized that the Ray C. Bliss Institute's concentrated focus on the "nuts and bolts" of politics would create better government officials at all levels of politics. The Robert A. and Jean C. Meyers Family Fund for the Ray C. Bliss Institute will be used to provide resources for the students and faculty with a keen interest in the practical application of politics.

Proceeds from The Robert A. and Jean C. Meyers Family Fund for the Ray C. Bliss Institute will be distributed at the discretion of the Director of the Ray C. Bliss Institute and the Meyers' daughter, Marilyn Buckey, and granddaughter, Jennifer Wick. In the event that Marilyn Buckey and/or Jennifer Wick are unable at any time to serve as advisors, the Meyers Family may elect to appoint replacement advisors.
