Lero, Stanley J. Memorial Scholarship

The Stanley J. Lero Memorial Scholarship was established in 2016 by the family and friends of Stanley J. Lero to honor and preserve his legacy at The University of Akron College of Engineering. Stanley Lero believed that education was the key to any future and that honesty, integrity, and compassion formed the foundation to a lifelong career in engineering.

Lero attended The University of Akron and in 1949 earned his Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. In 1956, he co-founded Lero and Markwald Engineers in Akron, Ohio, and went on to earn his Professional Engineers License in 1957. Today, the business he co-founded, now known as Lero, Rollence & Moinette Inc., continues to serve its clients utilizing Lero’s founding principle of “Superior Value through Quality Engineering.”

Students eligible for The Stanley J. Lero Memorial Scholarship must be enrolled full time in »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥’s mechanical engineering program in the College of Engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrated financial need.

A scholarship committee from the College of Engineering and the Office of Student Financial Aid will review qualified students based on socioeconomic factors, enrollment status, and GPA. Top candidates will be forwarded to the children of Stanley J. Lero (Candice, Alyssa, Stanley II, Tim) or their designee for selection of recipient.
