Malyuk Scholarship for Home-Schooled Students

The Malyuk Scholarship for Home Schooled Students was established in 2003 to assist a talented and deserving student of music, dance, or art at The University of Akron. The Malyuks created this scholarship especially for home-schooled students because of their strong belief in the value of home schooling. Qualified students will have been home schooled at some time in their academic careers, in accordance with the Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 3301-34 (Rules for Excuses From Compulsory Attendance for Home Education) or comparable regulations set forth by the student’s home state. Eligible students also will have been accepted into the School of Music, the Dance Program, or the Myers School of Art; be full-time students; and will major in music, dance or art. The recipient will be selected by the College of Fine and Applied Arts in consultation with the Office of Student Financial Aid, with final approval given by Susan or Michael Malyuk. The scholarship will be awarded based on talent and/or financial need. The scholarship is renewable, but applicants must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA to be eligible to reapply. The University of Akron is an equal education and employment institution.
