Hayes, Michael T. Barberton High School Cybersecurity Scholarship

The Michael T. Hayes Barberton High School Cybersecurity Scholarship was established in April 2020 by Michael T. Hayes. Michael created this scholarship because of his background in technology and his recognition of the career potential within this industry for students. This scholarship will support an incoming freshman from Barberton High School who will pursue their degree in Computer Information Systems (CIS) with a focus in Cybersecurity at The University of Akron.

The Michael T. Hayes Barberton High School Cybersecurity Scholarship is to be awarded to undergraduate freshmen students pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems with a focus in Cybersecurity at The University of Akron. Students must be in good academic standing and be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours. The recipient will receive a total of $1,500 for the academic year, which will be distributed in installments of $750 per semester (fall and spring). The Network Systems teacher at Barberton High School will identify and review candidates with Michael T. Hayes. The Network Systems teacher will then select a candidate, after which notification will be sent to the Office of Student Financial Aid at the University of Akron.
