Schwarz, Dr. Karen A. and Dr. Charles J. Endowed Scholarship
The Dr. Karen A. Schwarz and Dr. Charles J. Schwarz Endowed Scholarship was established in September 2017 by Dr. Charles J. Schwarz. This scholarship honors his devoted wife, Dr. Karen A. Schwarz, who taught community health care nursing at The University of Akron’s College of Nursing for 20 years. She also conducted research, which focused on family caregivers in the home setting, and published her work and findings in professional journals.
This scholarship will assist senior nursing students planning careers in community health care nursing.
Full-time students enrolled in their senior year in The University of Akron School of Nursing are eligible for this scholarship. Candidates must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 and must plan on pursuing an advanced career in community health care nursing. Selection of deserving recipients will be done by the University’s School of Nursing in collaboration with the Office of Student Financial Aid.
