Tucker, Charles S. Family Scholarship

Charles S. Tucker Jr. came to Akron, Ohio, in 1916 with his parents, Charles S. Tucker and Etta Routh Tucker, and his sister, Margaret Routh Tucker. The family lived on North Hill until both Margaret and Charles Jr. graduated from The University of Akron in 1932 and 1935 respectively. Margaret pursued a lifelong career as librarian at North High School, finally assisting The Board of Education by designing libraries in the late 1960s for other Akron high schools. Charles Jr., a member of Lone Star Fraternity, retired from Bridgestone/Firestone in 1977 as a division controller. The family is most appreciative of the educations the University provided Margaret and Charles Jr. and, therefore, Charles Jr. has established The Charles S. Tucker Family Scholarship to benefit future generations of students.
