Advancing Up Job Prep Program Scholarship Fund

The Advancing Up Job Prep Program was established in July 1995, to benefit individuals on public assistance in pursuing a certificate or degree program at The University of Akron.

This endowment fund's purpose is to provide support for instructional fees, books, class materials and supplies to TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) recipients enrolled at The University of Akron.  The scholarship is open to students pursuing either a certificate, two-year or four-year degree in any major.  Preference will be given to Community & Technical College students.  The students selected are required to maintain at least a cumulative 2.00 grade point average.  In addition to Advancing Up Program participants, any student receiving public assistance, such as prevention, retention, and contingency funds, food stamps, or cash assistance, may be eligible for a scholarship.  However, preference will be given to TANF or Ohio Works First recipients.
