When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.
For this reason, The University of Akron is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of 黄色直播 alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.
Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.
If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at The University of Akron, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

Students who want to apply for scholarships should visit the scholarship page on the Financial Aid site. You can find the link for the online application here.
The Department of Development does not accept applications for or distribute scholarships. Scholarships are distributed through the University’s Office of Student Financial Aid.

Minson, Art Endowed Memorial Scholarship
The Art Minson Endowed Memorial Scholarship was created in 2007 by friends and family of Art Minson. Art graduated from East High School and worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 40 years. He was married to Eula Belle Minson and had one son. He was an active member of St. John Methodist Episcopal Church and the NAACP.
Art was a special person. He became known as “Mr. East Akron” for his community activism and volunteerism. He was instrumental in starting neighborhood block clubs and helped lay the foundation for the East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation to channel money back into the community. He loved the city of Akron and fought for social justice and fair labor. He volunteered for the Millennium Fund for Children and the Dr. Shirla R. McClain Gallery of Black History and Culture at The University of Akron. He received numerous awards, including the Howard M. Metzenbaum Ohio Citizen Award and the Volunteer of the Year Award for Coming Together.
Recipients of The Art Minson Endowed Memorial Scholarship must be enrolled full time at The University of Akron, have financial need, and maintain a GPA of at least 2.0. They must have demonstrated community involvement. They must be from Akron or a neighboring community, with preference given to graduates of an Akron public high school. Candidates will be nominated by the Office of Student Financial Aid. Each candidate will be interviewed by members of the Art Minson Endowed Scholarship Committee, who will make the final selection.
