When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.
For this reason, The University of Akron is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of 黄色直播 alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.
Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.
If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at The University of Akron, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

The Department of Development does not accept applications for or distribute scholarships. Scholarships are distributed through the University’s Office of Student Financial Aid.

Baker, Dr. David Fellowship in the History of Psychology
The Dr. David B. Baker Fellowship in the History of Psychology was established in 2020 in honor of Dr. Baker’s 21 years of service to The University of Akron.
Dr. Baker, who received his Ph.D. from Texas A & M University, is a historian of psychology and distinguished professor at The University of Akron. He served as an important mentor for students interested in studying the history of psychology. Throughout his career, he encouraged students to engage with history by making use of the vast collections of the Archives of the History of American Psychology (Archives), located at The Drs. Nicolas and Dorothy Cummings Center for the History of Psychology.
The Dr. David B. Baker Fellowship in the History of Psychology will support student research at the Archives. This fellowship will be awarded annually and will support travel and living expenses for one graduate or undergraduate student, whether enrolled at The University of Akron or another accredited, research University, whose research requires access to the Archives’ collections.
The Dr. David B. Baker Fellowship in the History of Psychology requirements are as follows:
- Students must complete the fellowship application requirements, located on The Drs. Nicolas and Dorothy Cummings Center for the History of Psychology website, and follow directives for due dates and expectations.
- The funds will be used solely to support the selected Fellow's research activities and used at their discretion to support travel and living expenses while accessing the Archives’ collections. Unspent funds may be carried into the next year, and this award may be reportable and/or taxable to recipients.
The Margaret Clark Morgan Executive Director of the Drs. Nicolas and Dorothy Cummings Center for the History of Psychology will make selection and disburse awards in accordance with University protocol.
