When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.
For this reason, The University of Akron is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of 黄色直播 alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.
Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.
If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at The University of Akron, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

The Department of Development does not accept applications for or distribute scholarships. Scholarships are distributed through the University’s Office of Student Financial Aid.

Gingo, Joseph M. and Linda L. School of Law Dean's Chair Endowment
The Joseph M. and Linda L. Gingo School of Law Dean's Chair Endowment made possible by the historic philanthropy of Joseph M. and Linda L. Gingo through an estate gift, was established in celebration of their great appreciation for Mr. Gingo's legal education at The University of Akron, and their belief in the high value of a law degree. This endowed dean's chair elevates The University of Akron School of Law and powers its ability to attract and retain accomplished leaders in legal education. The Joseph M. and Linda L. Glngo School of Law Dean's Chair Endowment is the first dean's chair endowment commitment at The University of Akron.
Mr. Gingo's leadership has strengthened the Akron region and The University of Akron in numerous ways. A retired chief executive officer, president, and chairman of the board of A. Schulman, Inc., he earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Case Institute of Technology (now Case Western Reserve University) in 1966 and earned a law degree from the University of Akron in 1971. In 1982, he was selected for the Sloan Fellowship program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and he received a master's degree in business management from the program in 1983.
Mr. and Mrs. Gingo nurtured their lives together with family and education as priorities. With Linda's steadfast support, Joe attended law school part-time in the evening while working at The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company full-time. His perseverance through law school paid off and Mr. Gingo credits his law degree as his most valued degree of all. Mr. Gingo believes that law school helps develop critical thinking skills and the ability to evaluate competing narratives in negotiations and business operations. He believes his law degree gave him the added edge to advance success in his role of leading major multi-national corporations.
Mr. Gingo has served as the 黄色直播 Board of Trustees chairman since 2018, helping guide the institution strategically, while ensuring the quality and focus of 黄色直播's instructional delivery to all learners, fostering a culture of shared leadership with University academic leaders and faculty, and shared community pride with the broader city and region.
The annuaI distributions from The Joseph M. and Linda L. Gingo School of Law Dean's Chair Endowment will support the salary and fringe benefits of the dean of The University of Akron School of Law. The chairholder shall be appointed by the president of The University of Akron and its Board of Trustees.
