In the summer of 2024, two of our students made a lasting impact in the community through their internships at South Street Ministries. Under the mentorship of Joe Tucker, Executive Director of South Street Ministries, the interns worked hands-on in the organization's Bike Shop and participated in Reentry programming, where they gained valuable experience while giving back.

Duane shared that his time at the Bike Shop was particularly meaningful because he often saw himself in the kids he worked with. "That connection is important to me," Duane explained. "It gives me a change of heart to do good for the community and other people." His dedication to mentoring youth and providing a positive influence is a testament to the powerful role community engagement can play in shaping future leaders.

For Quan, the highlight of his internship was building relationships. Alongside learning new technical skills like data entry, Quan appreciated the deeper connections he made. "I feel a lot of humbleness when I leave South Street Ministries on days I have my internship," he said, reflecting on the growth he’s experienced both personally and professionally.
