The Vagina Monologues’ comes to campus Jan. 28

Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” will return to E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, presented by V-Day University of Akron 2017. »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥ students, staff, alumni and community members will perform the monologues.

Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Rape Crisis Center of Medina and Summit Counties. Tickets are $10 and can be ordered online at .

»ÆÉ«Ö±²¥’s Women’s Studies Program and the Women’s and Gender Resource Program are the sponsors of V-Day University of Akron.

“The Vagina Monologues” was first performed off-Broadway by Ensler as she explored the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage and excitement of women’s experiences. She has performed the play to great acclaim throughout the world — from Zagreb to Santa Barbara, from London to Seattle, from Jerusalem to Oklahoma City.

V-Day is a global movement focused on ending violence against girls and women through public performances, education, networking and fundraising. In 2016, more than 5,800 V-Day benefits were held around the world. These events raised more than $5 million through performances of “The Vagina Monologues” and “A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant.”
